Forge Pro · Guide
Getting started
Forge Pro is shared as a friends beta. You host it on your own Mac and choose your own coding provider. The normal first-use path is installing the Mac app and using its built-in server — no separate server machine required.
On a Mac.
You'll need an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 26 or later. To get the installer, email [email protected].
- 1
Install the Mac beta
Open the supplied DMG and copy Forge Pro to Applications.
- 2
Open the app and let the server start
Launch Forge Pro from Applications and allow the bundled server to start.
- 3
Add a project
Create a sample project, open your own folder, or add an existing repository.
- 4
Choose a provider and model
Complete its setup and sign-in on the Mac that hosts the server. Resolve any reported missing launcher before sending work.
- 5
Start small
Try a small request — like explaining the sample project. Then make a small edit, inspect its diff, and respond to approval requests.
- 6
Stay on Beta updates
Leave Settings → Updates on Beta. Use Check for Updates for subsequent releases. Stable is not active during the beta.
On an iPhone or iPad.
Mobile access follows external TestFlight approval; invitations are not available yet. When you're invited:
- 1
Accept the TestFlight invitation
Install TestFlight and accept the individual Forge Pro invitation after external beta approval.
- 2
Keep the intended server running
For the built-in Mac sharing path, connect the Mac and mobile device to an appropriate Tailscale network.
- 3
Serve your other devices
On the Mac, use Settings → Connections → Serve my other devices and wait for the serving address to appear.
- 4
Pair the device
Use Settings → Pairing to show a pairing code and scan it in the mobile app, or use the supported manual server-address and token flow.
- 5
Confirm and go
Confirm the selected server and expected projects before starting work. Keep the Mac awake and Forge running while using its server remotely.
